Beyond Earth

Our first spring connector topic is 'Beyond Earth' we are asking lots of questions about outer space and the universe.

We started by building a 2D display of the solar system. We then built 3D models of the solar system. Each person made eight planets and placed them on a stand.

We have also drawn and labelled technical diagrams of a rocket and are now building our designs.

We are going to have lots of fun with this topic. Watch this space (-:

Christmas in Orange class

We prepared for the play every day. We went to the Cinderella panto, made angels, painted white pine cones, made Xmas cards and a reef. Our biggest event was saying goodbye to Linda who was the 'fairy godmother' of our classroom. We will miss Linda very much, but will write to her once a week to find out how she is and what life is like in the countryside. Can you think of any questions you want to ask Linda?

Reading club

Reading club runs every lunch time. Each week we read at least once one to one. A big thank you to Year 6 for supporting this group. A special thank you to Lucy, Helena, Mia and Mia who have helped every week last term. Orange class think you are wonderful. Also, thank you to Years 6 people who gave occasional help.

Learning to write

Every week our writing gets better and better! We are all writing sentences and beginning to connect sentences to write short stories.
We are becoming independent and attempt our own spellings using our phonics. We can spot when a word is tricky and we are trying to remember how to spell these words in full.

Light and Dark

Our Autumn connector topic was Light and Dark. We had lots of fun experiences including drawing our shadows in the playground and putting on shadow puppet shows. We learned about different light forms and carried out surveys at school and at home investigating light sources. See how many light sources you can remember.
