We started by building a 2D display of the solar system. We then built 3D models of the solar system. Each person made eight planets and placed them on a stand.

We have also drawn and labelled technical diagrams of a rocket and are now building our designs.

We are going to have lots of fun with this topic. Watch this space (-:

We went to the Cinderella panto, made angels, painted white pine cones, made Xmas cards and a reef. Our biggest event was saying goodbye to Linda who was the 'fairy godmother' of our classroom. We will miss Linda very much, but will write to her once a week to find out how she is and what life is like in the countryside. Can you think of any questions you want to ask Linda?

We are all writing sentences and beginning to connect sentences to write short stories.
We are becoming independent and attempt our own spellings using our phonics. We can spot when a word is tricky and we are trying to remember how to spell these words in full.

We had lots of fun experiences including drawing our shadows in the playground and putting on shadow puppet shows. We learned about different light forms and carried out surveys at school and at home investigating light sources. See how many light sources you can remember.

We picked apples from our school garden and made apple crumbles. We all loved mixing the topping. Our cake sale made a whopping £230. Thank you to all the parents who baked cakes; the selection was a feast for the eyes and tasted even better.

Every 10th bead had to be black! We had to count carefully and keep to the pattern of our 10 based number system.

We are exploring our senses and thinking about how they reveal the world to us and help us stay safe.

We have had lots of experiences including a road safety walk with PC Emilio and PC Kate - we learned the green cross code and made posters to tell other children to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN when out and about in our streets. 

We have listened to and identified different sounds and written lists about what we like to hear. We have made hand prints to help us remember the five senses. We interviewed Mr Nick Buzzard. That was great as he explained how he uses his stick and other gadgets to assist him. 

We have created lots of paintings to help us get in touch with our senses including imagining quiet and loud sound waves. We have made posters about the how our brain receives signals from our sense organs via our nerves. 

Next, we will explore touch, taste and smell...

We made staircases using Numicon and Cuisinaire to show numbers from 1-10. We then made, wrote and said the teen numbers and talked about how they are tricky because they sound different from how they are written.

We then looked at making patterns with different colours and different amounts of objects. We stacked unifix and lego to make repeating patterns and then recorded our designs. We used Numicon and Cuisinaire rods.
We have talked a lot about what would come next in a pattern. We had lots of fun making wiggly worms.
